[] K.I.S.S. [] It's about Opportunities...

As I'm writing this blog, the rain is pouring down and it seems so incredibly peaceful to hear how the drops interact with the roof, the lawn, the pavement and the leaves on the trees. It always amazes me how when I pause for a moment, and get out of my own head for just a second to appreciate the subtleties of life, I'm surprised (if not floored) how awakening they can make me feel. I'm certain we all stumble upon these moments of bliss, if you will or junctures in which we are flowing and life seems effortless due to our present state.

I remember years ago, hearing Billy Joel talk about how he would just hear something and a few minutes later he would be playing "piano man." Or, even more recently from the movie "Rocketman" -- how the synergistic relationship between Elton John and Bernie Taupin created so many hit songs with imagery unparalleled, even to this day. It's almost hard to imagine or believe that Elton could look at the words Bernie wrote and actually hear the song before it became the next billboard classic.

None of this in my humble opinion is magical or even unrepeatable, which I believe both artists proved over the course of their careers. They certainly had talent, similar to Michael Jordan with respect to basketball, but delegating these successes to talent is a disservice to yourself and at worst an insult to the commitment they endured to achieve those results.

There's a point buried somewhere in this body of letters. Here it comes, life is about opportunities and the more we have to choose from the better our quality of life, more often than not. Can we agree on that? Need more proof? Think of it this way, if you were to sell your house tomorrow and one person made an offer who has the control? If you lost your job and began searching for a new one who would be in control of that process?

Investing is no different than anything else in life. The more opportunities a person has to choose what they want and also has the ability to select that choice from a variety of options, typically the better the outcome. It wasn't any different for the stars I mentioned earlier. The fact we all have a tendency to gloss over is how much rubbish (my inner Brit coming out) they produced or even the sheer volume of jump shots missed along the way.

All in all, we are either creating opportunities in life by taking action or we are hoping they come our way. What I've learned the hard way is that new to you or me is not the enemy -- it's actually apathy to the new that is the ultimate grim reaper of more opportunity.

Finally, since you stuck around for the entirety of this posting, I'm going to share a quality investment idea as a bonus...Take a look at Match.com or stock symbol MTCH. See how the price action flows from the bottom left of the screen to the top right?

Given the overall trend is higher, this stock made the news because it was down close to 12% from the highs -- OUCH. Interestingly enough, it would make a much better purchase if it were down 20 to 25 percent. How can that be you might ask? All the answers are noted on the below chart. Can you read what the market is doing? Or, how it could potentially set up?

As always, there is so much more to learn about these charts. Greater clarity in anything, ultimately means more opportunities to choose from. Wouldn't it be more enjoyable to approach investing with a real edge as opposed to getting filtered information by someone you think knows better than you?

Similar to golf, we all have our own unique swing. Don't take my word for it or judge me based upon a single qualification on a dead resume, or something I accomplished in college. The truth is, if a so-called professional can't show you in real-time where a particular stock is headed, then they are guessing.

We don't guess at Principles and neither should you, especially since it's your money. Remember, no one cares more about your hard-earned savings than you do.
